Who We Are

We’re Sébastien, Katherine and Dany, a small team from Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec with a shared passion for tech and local businesses. Two of us are game developers with AI expertise, while the other specializes in social media and marketing.

Like many Canadians, we found it frustrating to figure out where products really come from. That’s why we created Is This Canadian?—a simple tool to help you quickly check if a product is truly Canadian by scanning a picture.

This project is completely independent—no corporate backing, no big sponsors. We built it because we believe in supporting local businesses and making this kind of information easy to access.

What We Do

• Scan a Product – Take a picture and instantly check if it’s Canadian.
• AI-Powered Search – We use advanced tools to recognize labels and verify product origins.
• Support Local – Our goal is to explain the origin of products and the companies that make them to help Canadians make informed purchasing decisions.
• Community Driven – Users can report errors and help improve the platform.

Are We Profiting From This?

Right now, Is This Canadian? is completely free to use, and we’re personally funding it. Any donations go 100% into improving the platform—covering development, data verification, server costs, and outreach.

We started this project because we saw a need for it, not to make money. That said, as the platform grows, we may explore ways to sustain it long-term—always with the priority of keeping it accessible and useful for Canadians.
